Why it matters:

One in 5 workers in the U.S. alone have filed for unemployment benefits in the last two months. We all personally know someone who has been furloughed or laid off. As we look ahead amid the global economic crisis to bring people back on their feet, many are emotionally devastated, financially concerned, and insecure about their ability to contribute.

In order to turn things around, we believe that it's crucial for us to redirect energy to learning new skills, solving critical problems and adding immediate value to potential employers. Employers who have practical problems to solve.

Among our workforce there are those who need new challenges that push them to learn. They need to know that they can confidently make an impact today, from their home, with experience they already have from their respective industries.

Our Goal:

To showcase innovative student and entrepreneurial talent. To build resumes and portfolio work. To bond new team members to advance each others' careers. And to connect our mentors, judges, and sponsors to the best minds to tackle these challenges of the future.

1. Healthcare Challenge

“Showcase verified / trusted testing results. How can we create a digital passport / ID using emerging technologies like ArcBlock’s blockchain identity layer, IOT or other ideas to clear workers and consumers to return to public?”

2. Energy Challenge

“Help get energy industry workers back to work faster. How can we leverage emerging blockchain technology like Hedera Hashgraph, AR, IOT or other ideas to showcase expertise or verify work? ”

Judging Criteria

  • Customer / Problem Validation
How practical is the problem for the entire industry? Are we truly solving a pain point for an entire industry or is this a nice to have for one organization? Who did you consult to validate this problem?
  • User Experience / Customer Experience
How will the customer or the user interact with your solution? Why is your proposed interaction the most efficient way? What are the alternatives in comparison?
  • Speed of Implementation
If you were to implement it today, how quickly can we deploy the solution? How many people, departments and other roadblocks that you would potentially face?
  • Immediate Impact / Value Add
Once correctly implemented, what is the projected value of this solution? Can you show it in terms of the potential hours saved, cost reduced or revenue generated?
